Outgate is a small Hamlet with country pub 100 yards away, and the well known “Drunken Duck” within possible walking distance. The cottage is on one level, beautifully furnished and equipped with a light and cosy feel and wonderful views. The patio is ideal for meals alfresco and a very special communal garden surrounds the properties. Latterbarrow offers spacious two bedroomed accommodation with one twin room and one double. It has been recently upgraded to provide even more comfort and the large windows have wonderful views over the fells. The property is relaxing with lots of character, all on one level, comprising the lower portion of a converted barn to the side of the main dwelling. Spacious openplan living, dining, kitchen area. Bathroom with shower.

For the historically minded, Cumbria offers a wealth of Celtic monuments, Roman remains, stately homes and ruined abbeys. Carlisle still has some of its ancient walls standing, as well as a Norman castle, and the western part of Hadrian’s Wall is nearby. Other places of interest include Penrith, with its castle and remarkably unchanged market square; Keswick, which was once the centre of pencil manufacturing; the busy market town of Kendal and Cockermouth, Wordsworth’s birthplace
