Wrelton is an ideal holiday base from which to explore the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire and the city of York. Pickering has a wide variety of shops, inns, tea rooms and restaurants, as well as being the southern terminus of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Steam trains run a regular service to Grosmont through the beautiful moorland scenery, from where you can continue on to the ancient fishing port of Whitby. There are several historic houses nearby and a wealth of walks to suit all tastes. Shop 1 mile and restaurant 250 yards. Ground floor: Living room. Dining room/kitchen. It is home to over 800 attractions, from breweries to museums, castles to zoos, and World Heritage Sites to breathtaking rides. There are many popular seaside resorts along its coastline, including Whitby, Bridlington and Scarborough, as well as quieter villages and working harbours nestled among the rugged cliffs. The North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and part of the Peak District National Park offer wonderful opportunities for walkers, cyclists and climbers, as well as nature reserves for bird spotters and naturalists. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway carries more passengers than any other heritage railway in the UK and the National Railway Museum is to be found in the county capital city, York.
