Description

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, these two lovely properties enjoy a superb location just 5 minutes walk from north Cornwall's dramatic coastline and spectacular cliff paths. They are set in the grounds of a Grade II+ listed fortified manor house - not unusual in the days of marauding pirates! - on a now very peaceful 110 acre organic cattle farm. Each property has great privacy being set in its own large enclosed garden with a separate driveway. There is a pub, shop and tea room at the tiny village of Morwenstow (1 mile), and riding stables nearby.
Marsland Mouth, an awe inspiring rugged beach, is a 10 minute walk down through a beautiful nature reserve, whilst the sandy beaches of Duckpool and Sandymouth are within 4 miles. Bude's clean surfing beaches, splash pool and leisure canal and the nearby Tamar Lakes (both within 10 miles) provide water sports, fishing and canoeing. Local attractions include picturesque Clovelly, Hartland Abbey and Docton Mill Gardens whilst atmospheric Tintagel and the wilds of Bodmin Moor are within easy reach.
Accommodation
Two bedrooms. This delightful single storey property adjoins the manor's Gatehouse. Well equipped and spacious kitchen with dining area. Very comfortable sitting room (formerly the roundhouse) with pitched ceiling, exposed timbers (low main beam) and wood burner. Double bedroom. Twin bedded room. Bathroom/WC (shower over bath).

Reviews

An absolutely brilliant place from which to explore North Cornwall. The cottage and its location was fantastic, and the garden was perfect for the dog to have a wander around in as a warm up for some great walks which were right on the door step. I'd go again! Mr G, Bristol, Avon 24 April 2010
For a quiet getaway with the dog it was a perfect choice. Great location for long walks and quiet beaches. The cottage was brilliant and the garden was a huge bonus for the dog to stretch his legs and meander around. Highly recommended. Will definitely go back one day. Mr G, Bristol, Avon 22 April 2010

North Cornwall
Wilder and more rugged than the south of the county, North Cornwall is a land of
tall headlands, sandy beaches and empty moorland – yours to explore from one of
our holiday cottages in North Cornwall. The busy resort of Newquay is a major attraction,
with its glorious beaches and fantastic conditions for surfers. Nearby Perranporth
also boasts some fantastic beaches, perfect for sun-lovers. You’ll find many more
lovely beaches, like those at Bude for example, waiting for you on one of our North
Cornwall cottage holidays. This part of Cornwall has become a bit of a mecca for
food lovers too. Rick Stein has put Padstow on the map and more chefs, including
Jamie Oliver, are joining him, attracted by the quality of the ingredients available
locally. Then there is St. Ives, long a haunt of artists drawn here by the wonderful
light and inspiring scenery. A cottage holiday in North Cornwall puts you in touch
with history from ancient celtic times to the days of the smugglers. Tintagel Castle,
rumoured to be the birthplace of King Arthur, sits high on a cliff and still has
a strange air of mystery about it.
South Cornwall
Wonderful scenery, a mild climate, sparkling blue seas and charming seaside villages
make South Cornwall a firm favourite for cottage holidays whatever the season. And
we have a fabulous choice of holiday cottages in South Cornwall from which to make
the most of this lovely part of the country. The Cornish Riviera takes in some of
South Cornwall’s most popular resorts and many of our holiday cottages in South
Cornwall are located nearby. Picturesque Fowey is a haven for sailors, while the
Roseland Peninsula is a noted beauty spot. Mevagissey, St. Mawes and St. Just are
all well worth a visit. Not to be missed is the Eden Project, a fascinating recreation
of different biospheres, featuring a wide variety of exotic plantlife. You should
also make time for a trip to atmospheric St. Michael’s Mount and on to Land’s End,
the most westerly point in England. The county town of Truro has a lovely cathedral
and some excellent shopping opportunities, while Penzance is a bustling resort,
famed for its warm weather and sub-tropical plants. And do make sure you sample
the pasties, saffron cake and clotted cream – all local delicacies, – during your
cottage holiday.
