And then there’s the magnificent cathedral at Salisbury, set in a wonderfully preserved medieval close. You’ll also want to explore Wiltshire’s many pretty towns and villages – places like Cosham, with its Georgian houses in Cotswold stone, Bradford-on-Avon, Marlborough, famous for its school, and perfectly preserved Lacock with its famous abbey.
