Travel Guide to holidays in... Haworth, Yorkshire, England

Haworth is a small town in Yorkshire, England, which has become famous for its connection with the Brontë sisters who wrote many of their books here. It is located within a few miles of Oxenhope, Oldfield, Oakworth, Keighley, Pecket Well, and Allerton and is one of over 200 towns and villages in Yorkshire in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The nearest cities are Leeds (population 443,247), Manchester (population 394,269), and Ripon (which has a population of 16,468 according to the 2001 Census).

The attractive town, with its stone buildings, and winding streets, surrounded by the Yorkshire countryside, has become very popular with visitors, partly for the preserved railway, but most especially because Haworth was longtime the home of the Brontë sisters who wrote many of their novels whilst living in Haworth Parsonage. The inspiration for their books can be seen all around, particularly in the dramatic and scenic countryside nearby. Follow the links to find holiday cottages and lets available in this area on Go2, or view the surrounding area on the map below.

Sometimes given the nickname of “God’s Own County” thanks to its lush green countryside and wild expanses of moor land, Yorkshire is the largest county in England. It is home to over 800 attractions, from breweries to museums, castles to zoos, and World Heritage Sites to breathtaking rides. There are many popular seaside resorts along its coastline, including Whitby, Bridlington and Scarborough, as well as quieter villages and working harbours nestled among the rugged cliffs. The North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and part of the Peak District National Park offer wonderful opportunities for walkers, cyclists and climbers, as well as nature reserves for bird spotters and naturalists. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway carries more passengers than any other heritage railway in the UK and the National Railway Museum is to be found in the county capital city, York.
